A Bit About Saburtalo

Archaeological evidence indicates that humans inhabited this region as early as the 5th- 4th millennium BC. During the 11th and13th centuries, it developed as a growing district. Later, between the 17th and 18th centuries, it became part of Vere and grew into a prosperous agricultural district. Another wave of settlement in Saburtalo Valley commenced in the latter half of the 19th century. In 1917, it was formally incorporated into the city's territory. Today, Saburtalo is a well-developed district of Tbilisi, featuring modern residential areas, businesses, and educational and scientific research institutions.
